Charlotte Douglas President
Charlotte Douglas is an art historian and a specialist in Malevich and Russian
Avant-Garde art. She is the author of close to a hundred books and articles, including Swans of Other Worlds: The Origin of Abstraction in Russia (1980) and
Kazimir Malevich (1994). She is Head of the Aesthetic Theory Section of the Institute of Modern Russian Culture, and
is advisor and editor for the microfiche collection, History of
Modern Russian and Ukrainian Art, 1907-1930, published by the Interdocumentation Company, Leiden. From 1994 to 1998 she served on the editorial board of the
Moscow journal Voprosy Iskusstvoznania [Inquiries in Art
History]. She was Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts of New
York University, and served as Chair of the NYU Department of Russian and Slavic Studies from 1992 to 2001. She is now Professor Emerita at New York University. |
